Hartley Lefton joins Stikeman Elliott in Toronto as a partner in its national insurance and reinsurance, financial products and services, and M&A groups. He comes from McCarthy Tétrault, which he joined in 2020 and where he led the national insurance and reinsurance group. He acts for insurers, reinsurers, brokers, and investors on acquisitions and sales of insurers, brokerages, and books of business, and on licensing, financing, outsourcing, and product launches, and he also works with fintech and insurtech companies entering Canada. Stikeman said insurers now face deals, regulation, and new market entrants all at once, and that Lefton is an expert in each.
Called in Ontario in 2007. Previously head of McCarthy Tétrault's national insurance and reinsurance group.
